Hi all,

both of these teks that interests me call for a very long soaking time in vinegar:

https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...kaloid_Extraction_Guide
https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Enoons_Cold_Caapi_Tek

Why is so?

I do Ibogaine extraction, and do 3 x 1 hour in vinegar, and it is enough. Why would Caapi be any different?

What if I do the same with Caapi, 3 x 1 hour in vinegar, and then just NaOH.

any objections?

Jox

its the same concept, 3x1 hour should do it. i like doing increasing cook times ie

1. 30 min
2. 45 min
3. 1 hour
4. overnight in a crock pot (after initial boil)

Hi Jox,

the experiment I did was based on numbers I had read from cold extractions using rue seeds. Other than that there is no reasoning behind it. If I were you I would experiment with the shorter times as suggested and report back yields. If you find that after 5 pulls you have not reached the desired or expected yield do another one, or a longer one etc...

This could be a really cool experiment actually to see how far the time can be reduced. I suspect however that you will need significantly longer times to soak than when boiling due to the much lower movement of molecules and lower solubility of salts in colder water. I.e. you will need significantly more time than 45min boils.

To reduce this time you could try adding hot water/vinegar instead of cold, in a different experiment, soak for the same amount of time and compare yields.

Personally I don't see the problem with soaking for a few days. You might not get the instant gratification of a fast extraction but it's energy conserving and relaxing to do this extraction Smile

Anyway I'm interested to hear what you get out of the vine. Remember not all vines have the same alkaloid content. Make sure that at the end of your process there's really nothing left in the plant matter.

Enoon,

I based my Ibogaine extractions on Chris Jenks manual. It is cold vinegar soak of 3 x 1 hour. He says that increasing the heat does nothing.

So I would do as he says, and then follow your tek and continue the extraction.

Then for the test I would cook in vinegar for some time to see if there are any left.

how's that plan?

go for it, you could be on to something. It's definitely well worth a try and the outcome might be interesting to all of us.

Based on whatever your results are you can think about changing it around a bit for the next time or not.

good luck!
