question regarding THP extraction.

I have only done Ibogaine extractions, and THP sounds very alike, but also different. I don't see the reason for the difference: why not soak Caapi for 1 hour in vinegar water, and then drain it?

With Iboga I soak it in pure vinegar for 1 hour 3 times, in the same set up as THP, just with a coffee filter.

WHY not do the same with Caapi: soak for example 100g of Caapi in 1 L of vinegar water ( or even less water) for 1 hour and drain it, and then repeat it as many times as the yellow color comes out.

I will put 50ml of apple vinegar x L of water. I will do it cold.

IMO this will extract all active matter and it will be much less water to reduce.

I would like to try this out but I only have whole vine..I find it hard to get whole vine down to a workable powder for something like this..or has anyone done this with shredded vine?

I did it. 100mg of Caapi, 4 L of water and 500ml of vinegar. I soaked it 3 x 1 hour. Then reduced it. It was a lots of vinegar vapors.... horrible.

Then put in baking soda to get rid of vinegar.

After all would never do it again. It tasted on pure salt of some strange kind.

This tek sounds good but what to do with 15 L of water. And if less water what to do with the vinegar?

I still drank it and it was good.

If you want to extract to isolate the alkaloids you can use the vinegar soaking method as indicated in the link in my signature. But if you are looking to drink it I think the vinegar will be a problem concerning the taste...

if youre going to drink it and want a more palletable flavor try citric acid or fumaric acid, also they wont really smell the same way vinegar does.

and if youre extracting it, you could still use those same acids.

You mean 15 ml of 5% vinegar over the whole amount of water used (like 15 liters for 100gr)?

Or per liter (meaning 15 liters x 15 ml/liter = 225 ml of 5% vinegar over 15 liters)?

One other thing, this is perhaps assumed one uses distilled or demi-water?

Can one use Toddy Coffee Maker instead of THP method? Would any alterations need to be made?
