I just extracted 340 grams of seeds. The filtering task is onerous. I persevered and got fairly clean result after using much cotton to get the goopy gunk out. Then I used a large vacuum filtration setup and was till confronted with filter papers that clogged fairly fast (every 200-300 ml) even with sonication to assisting keeping the filters from clogging. A day later (and I mean after many hours of hands on time spent filtering) I based the first time.

Needless to say I am curious about avoiding grinding to avoid creating the mess in the initial filtering step. I'll explore this using a pressure cooker and whole seeds in the next month or so.

Thank you for all of your input InfinitysMinute! I'll start working on incorporating everything into the Tek ASAP.

I'm thinking about replacing the grinding portion of the tek to a soaking stage. I'd like any input from others about this idea. It would basically be as follows:

Step 1a: Soak the seeds in an excess of vinegar/acidic solution for 2-4 weeks.
Step 1b: Strain & freeze the seeds. Reduce, filter and process the solution.
Step 1c: Thaw seeds, soak again for 2 weeks in acidic solution.
Step 1d: Repeat step 1b and then proceed to step 2 of the tek to get out any remaining goodies. The seeds could then be ground and boiled if one was so inclined.

This would allow us to skip the grinding stage and still be able to retrieve most of the goodies without too much hassle hopefully. I haven't tried this method yet but I encourage others to give it a shot and report back their findings.

Something tells me that the extended soaks will grab a lot of goodies without all of the extra gunk and make the whole process a lot easier.

Thanks again for your time and effort on compiling all of these suggestions. I'll be updating the tek slowly but surely as I get the chance.

And Rivea, I'm really looking forward to hearing your results from the PC experiments!
