hey guys i'm unsure where to find pure ethanol where i live, but i read the that methyl alcohol which makes up 5% methylated spirits here in aus has a boiling point of 65 degrees. i was wondering whether i could make essentially pure ethanol by heating methylated spirits to 65 degrees to drive off the methyl alcohol ... i know that this methylated spirits is just 95% pure ethanol and 5% methyl alcohol

sounds like an azeotrope, you're not going to drive off anything by distilling it.
