Hi Nexus Smile

I got a load from a pull off 500g mimosa I did a couple months ago sitting on my table here in front of me. I did a wash with sodium carbonate and distilled water before evaporating back then, problem was it didn't separate well, and the end result was a bodge job, giving me a sludge that I couldn't get out of the pan from the freezer. Other annoying bits and bobs also got it that ruined the product.

I salvaged what I could and it looks like cheesecake biscuit base, kinda brown and not completely dry, still a little sticky in parts. I let it sit un cut, hard and blob-like in my fridge until this morning. On the table here after using a razor in front of me I estimate about 800mg.

Last night I did another run with 250g mimosa and it looks a lot better. I skipped evap and went straight to freeze precip, the results when I filtered and dried look promising. The crystals from this run are whiter but still with a lot of brown in, they're drying on the coffee filter paper now. Theres definitely a good smell coming from the old and new batch.

What should I do? I could recrystalise the batches together if that would work, or try a different method. Never done an ammonia wash before, wouldnt know where to get it in my country.

Tak

re-x everything together, and my advice is to warm the solvent when you dissolve the dmt, then let it cool on room temperature.pull from the goo one more time with warm solvent and freeze both solvent fractions.

So let me get this right: I should redissolve the stuff in one big batch, then keep the warm naphtha I used for it. The goo thats left after the first redissolve should be doused with more warm solvent and then the two should be frozen (together?)

yes, thats what i meant. just dont use too much solvent. try to use as little solvent as you can. or if you use too much, then evaporate little to have good precipitation.

Couple of thoughts:

Washing the Naptha. check Vovin's A/B tek.
Would be possible to dissolve in Naptha, wash, then re-x.

Found washing helps immensely!

Also, what kind of Naptha are you using? Have you done an evap test? (see FAQ)
