this cat i know is doing a Rue extraction for a first time changa experience. he cooked the seeds x3 in 4cups water 1 cup white vinegar each time and let it reduce with no lid. combined the solutions and reduced further. added salt. strained the next day and got nothing. he then added lye to make it basic. the solution is in the fridge it looks like spoiled milk on the bottom with a layer of yellowish brownish liquid forming on the top. the milky part is about 3 or 4 inches deep in a one gallon wine jug. it looks like too much!
does this sound right? and does he need to do anything to remove the lye after this step? any help would be appreciated!
