Ok, I started my first extraction with a friend for hands on experience.

I started with a kilo of MHRB, and split it between two crock pots, I didn't weight it but Got it pretty close to half and half I'm sure.

Then we poured vinegar into the crock pots and stirred everything until it was soupy.
We the proceeded to put the lids on the crock pots and turn them on low heat.

Low heat turned out to be pretty high, when I checked on it again there was a black film on top of the mixture, so I stirred it in and turned the temp to warm, I let it sit on warm overnight.

When I woke up in the morning both of the crock pots were not simmering but there was a black film on both, I simply stirred it in and turned the pots off, it's sitting now, The friend is asleep so I'm waiting for the filtration process.

Does anyone think maybe I lost significant yield from such heating it too much? tragic stuff if I did. Hoping its a normal thing when crock potting it though.

Thanks for any response in advance. Smile

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

i am guessing your gonna be OKThumbs up

i think if it was on really high and the pots boiled dry it might be a different story, but if they didnt dry and only left a skin then i think you will good to go.

i dont know what tek your using, but an overnight boil seems a little excessive.

Thanks 3rdI, I'm not sure what tek he learned, but we tried to keep it below a simmer as much as possible which is why I dropped the temp to warm, the heating period lasted about 12 hours. I saw another film develop a minute ago, getting a chance to look at it in the light it was really a dark brownish-purple film, maybe impurities in the bark rising to the top and caking?

im not sure what the skin is, i just figure its like the skin you get on milk when its warmed. When it happens to me i just stir it in, if your gonna filter the liquid then i dont think it makes any difference.

If you havent already i would take a look at a few of the teks we have in the wiki, the Q21Q21 and Noman teks seem to be very popular.

yeah your heating sounds a little intense. just follow Q21Q21's tek, it's incredibly safe, and the yield is very nice Smile

I read a few teks here already, I'll be sure to check those out too. Thanks for the advice.
I'm glad the film is a normal part of the process.
I'll definitely be posting pics of it at the end. The next step is to run the whole solution through a filtered vacuum pump that my friend has, it will pump the vinegar into a glass flask and from there we empty it all into a pickle jar and pour naptha in, shake it up really well and discard that pull. then basify with lye and do three naptha pulls from that. then wait for it to evap, not sure if we'll do freeze precipitation or just let it air dry yet. I'm really excited to see the dmt settle and crystallize and see how much the mhrb from this supplier yields.

lol after doing Q21Q21's tek I'll never understand fooling around with lye or risking emulsions or anything; it's literally that simple and safe, and my yields are nice.
