Hey guys, SWIM used to use pint jars for extractions and found that he can do the first pull in a few hours and have easy freeze precip (.6 ml solvent/ 1g MHRB). When he used a gallon wine jug, he found that it took much longer for the solvent to become concentrated enough to form crystals. The only thing I can think of is that the more surface area the solvent is covering, the faster it pulls the spice out, can anyone confirm this?

not surface area, volume.
solubility is a function of volume.

Depends how well you are mixing too. How were you mixing?

If there's little surface area, meaning a thin container so top layer is thick, it may be harder to mix it thoroughly. So maybe your problem is you just werent mixing well enough? Make a few cycles of mixing thoroughly/letting stand before pulling

You mean volume of the solution that MHRB is soaked in? Or volume of solvent?

SWIM remembers mixing it very thoroughly, but he'll keep this in mind.

Thanks for the feedback.
