SWIM recently received some dmt. However it is not like any other dmt SWIM has ever encountered. Rather than being the usual crystalline/powder its just really fine powder, no signs of any crystals.

Having smoked it SWIM would say it has about 30-50% potency compared to pure freebase.

I'm guessing it was just a failed extraction. I'm wondering if evaporating in acetone will maybe isolate the dmt but not sure if this is a good idea (SWIM has no chem knowledge at all and hasn't performed extract ever)

SWIMS other option is to turn it all into changa (I presume even though its in this state it can still be made into changa the same) and then just smoke a higher dose than usual.

I've 2 suggestions for you.

When a little of the DMT is vaporized off a sheet of tin foil does it leave behind a distinct carbonized residue? If it does it has probably been cut with glucose or something like it.
Pure DMT freebase should hardly leave a mark on the surface of the foil.
If it leave a black carbon residue try either of the following.

1. dissolve in dilute vinegar, base with NaOH (sodium hydroxide), Ca(OH)2 (lime) or Na2C03 (sodium carbonate) and pull with a non polar solvent like shellite. Evaporate the shellite to leave close to pure freebase DMT. Any gunk will hopefully stay in the polar layer (the dilute vinegar).
1. DMT freebase is barley soluble in cold water so wash through a filter paper with very cold water and dry it out. Hopefully this will wash out some of the gunk.

That's why we are strongly opposed to anything related to buying DMT and/or getting from unknown sources. Who knows what you have there? Maybe flour, maybe some RC, maybe some toxic substance, maybe DMT, maybe a mix of these things ?

If you know the person who extracted it and its someone close, why dont you ask exactly how they extracted, using what chemicals, etc? Write it down and ask us here. If you dont know the person, I suggest you forget about this, start reading our forum, the FAQ, the different extraction teks, and do it yourself. You dont have to be a chemist, it's not harder than, say, cooking a meal. Just read and you'll get it. Feel free to ask any questions you cant find the answer to in the FAQ or elsewhere here.

Lastly, DMT can be powder, but certainly not with the consistency of flour. What vitalstatistix said, specially the first option, would clean up DMT if it was impure, but the thing is we dont even know if you have DMT in the first place, maybe it's something else, soem other active alkaloid that might come across in this clean up step... So ask the person, or extract it yourself.

If you insist on trying this out no matter what, please at least buy some reagent like ehrlich, marquis, or similar, and check the color reactions in the sticky thread in the testing subforum linked in my signature, to help identifying it.
