Great advice on not ordering your whole kit from one online retailer.
Just a word of advice, don't assume you are completely safe ordering things from behind a VPN (like btguard). Your ISP wouldn't be the one you need to worry about when ordering, ISP's in general couldn't care less what you are doing. Using a VPN protects you from people being able to tell your IP address and then demand your ISP hand over your details... but that is rendered useless if you are doing something which involves giving out your details, such as entering your credit card info and delivery address, lol. It's not the ISP who bust people for things (although there are some exceptions that would probably raise flags at your ISP, like kiddy porn or maybe bomb making sites). It is, in the case of buying things, more about the company themselves (like amazon) potentially raising a flag and reporting to the cops what you have ordered... and VPN or no VPN makes no difference in that scenario since you have given the company your details already.
Remaining anonymous under a VPN involves 3 things:
1. That you don't give out your details to sites you visit
2. That you don't get caught out by browser exploits (malicious flash, scripts and other things can be manipulated into exposing your true IP address)
3. That your VPN keeps no logs or is located somewhere where it cannot be forced by law to hand over your details.
Don't get me wrong. VPN's are great, I'll probably need to start using one within the next year or two for downloading media since they have started
attempting to censor torrent sites here (although the censoring is useless in it's current form, but it'll almost certainly get worse). I just thought I should explain a little bit about it so you don't get caught out with an illusion of anonymity.
