With extracting dmt, is heptane better than using naphtha? i read that heptane speeds up the reaction much more than naphtha. has anyone had any experiences with heptane instead of naphtha?
any noticeable discrepenacies between extractions with the variable being heptane or napthah?
any precautions w/ heptane?
Oh, i'm using an STB tek. kind of like lazymans, but its different
it's Oz's tek. https://www.dmt-nexus.me...spx?g=posts&m=154336
DOes anyone have any issues with Oz's tek?
Thanks.

I've used heptane to do STB pulls and they came out very clean and seemed to pull a lot of spice, and the freeze precipitation produced a very dense crystalline product. Was one of my favorite extractions, I would recommend using it if you can.

It makes me more confident that a nexian-regular has replied!
a few questions

In addition to freeze precipitation, did you use the upside down trick to remove as much solvent form the crystals?
(draining the solvent post freeze, only to them place the jar upside down to allow solvent to drip out of the crystals caked onto the jar).
Did you use the coffee filter method?( putting crystals onto the coffee filter, roll em around to make the solvent be soaked into the filter)
Any other methods of getting nasty heptane away from the crystals?

do you know of any other teks that involve heptane so i can read them to gain a better perspective on the heptane process, i know it's similar to that of naphtha, but i want to read it for kicks 'n giggles.
what do you think of the sodium carbonate wash to rid the possibly heptane infected with NaOH? necessary? not?

Thanks.

There is no difference in "tek" when using heptane or naphtha, just follow the same instructions.

As for washing or not: FAQ - Should I wash my spice? https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...hould_I_wash_my_spice.3F

After you do the upside down freezer trick or scrape them and filter through coffee filter, you should put your crystals in a pyrex flat-bottom dish, break them up and let them air dry for quite some hours, moving them and breaking them up further, to remove heptane from the crystals. After this is done, you can put them in a closed airtight container, and after a few hours open it up and smell it. If it smells a bit of solvent again, put the crystals back in the dish and to dry some more.

Another option is to redissolve the crystals in non-denatured ethanol or acetone and re-evaporate, which will help removing the traces of heptane. This redissolving process is very effective but your crystals will be yellower/waxier afterwards, which shouldnt affect the experience, it seems to be just a superficial oxidation, and dmt n-oxide is equally psychoactive.
