Hey everyone, this is SWIM's first post but these forums have been an invaluable resource during his first extraction attempt, this place is awesome. Anyway, SWIM did a straight to base extraction of 56g powdered MHRB, using 56g lye dissolved in 840mL water. Accidentally added about 200mL naphtha, so SWIM decided to let it sit overnight while agitating occasionally. Naphtha was removed and allowed to evap in a glass dish resting on top of a crock pot filled with water (it's really cold right now where SWIM lives, so something was needed for a little warmth, and the ceramic inner bowl of the crock pot that the evap dish was resting on never got hotter than lukewarm) And a fan/open window for ventilation. After 4 hours, SWIM was left with approx. 100mL naphtha with a very small amount of white solid beginning to precipitate. Contents of evap dish were transferred to a beaker which was covered and placed in freezer overnight. Next day SWIM discovered white pasty solid at the bottom of the beaker. The naphtha and solids were poured through 2 stacked coffee filters, and the solids left to dry on the filter. Once dry it resembled a white powder. This was transferred to 2 fresh coffee filters and rinsed with 100mL cold non-sudsy ammonia ('janitor strength'

. I'm going to try and post a picture SWIM sent me (
via link to imgur). Anyway, SWIM weighed the extract on the coffee filter, and it weighed 2.4g; 2 fresh coffee filters weigh 1.9g, so SWIM has approximately 0.5g of extract, which works out to 0.89% of the original 56g MHRB. The powder is slightly sparkly and leaves a sparkly trail when scraped across the filter paper; it also feels slightly waxy when SWIM rubs a bit in between his fingers. So, did I just get lucky and manage to get a really good yield on my first ever pull? Or did I screw up somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for reading.
