anyone have any idea if 69ron's process would still work if the cactus had already been boiled in water with lemon/orange slices ? swim wanted to try this to see if there was anything left that could still be extracted. would the acidity from the lemon/orange (citric and ascorbic acid) affect the process or would the hydrated lime just make it basic anyway if a little more was used ?

You'd have to dry the cactus again, then you could proceed. Acidity shouldn't be much of an issue.
However, you're probably best off just doing another long slow boil on the hob. I doubt the yields on this tek using spent cactus would be worth the bother.

Yea, why not just do another boil?

I guess maybe just because it would be easier for swim to see (and weigh) what was actually left. With another boil it's kind of a guess as to what is really there. Originally swim made jello and took a guess as to how much to eat. Maybe swim is a little spoiled now being able to get a precise weight with the 69ron process.

But you can get the same results by extracting from the tea, no?

Have you considered boiling off the water and collecting the gunk that remains? Perhaps you could even dry this and do an isopropanol extraction.
