Last night i tried a STB extraction on MHRB for the first time. I used NaOH as a base and Newport lighter fluid as a non polar solvent. This morning i awoke to some cream coloured crystals. As i scraped them off the tray i evaporated the solvent off (I just evaporated the solvent entirely instead of freeze precipitation) i noticed they were quite sticky and clung together. Is this the normal consistancy? i must admit its something id never thought about till now. I am unsure as to wether theyre supposed to be like that, i have pulled a lot of fat with the plant material, or the lighter fuel i used was not a clean as i thought. I did try evaporating a little of the fuel beforehand to make sure it left no residue and it didnt.
I desperately want to begin my first foray into the world of DMT but i want to be sure what im smoking isnt going to cause me any serious harm.

First thing which comes in mind is that your lighter fluid has some resin-like residue after evaporation, though you've said to have tried it yourself and it left no residue.

Crystals being sticky could also mean they've not dried enough. Try redissolving your crystals in a non-polar solvent you're sure it's clean enough, let it evaporate and recrystallize.

When you evaporate the solvent completely off, it can be trapped in the crystal lattice that forms, or it could just be fats and oils. Try another evaporation test, just to be safe. Re-X'ing with IPA will ensure that any solvent that's trapped evaporates off. Just put enough IPA on to dissolve everything and let it evaporate.

Good luck!

Isopropyl alcohol, the higher percentage the better.

isopropanol.. or use a less toxic solvent like pure non-denatured ethanol/acetone.. Basically just redissolve your dmt in it and let it evap again. This will make the solvent trapped in crystals become free and evap as the other less toxic solvent evaporates.
