So this is my 2nd STB extraction.

I used 1 kilo powdered bark, split into two (2gallon) HPDE jugs.
Added lye (approx 2lb each) to the water/bark mix and let it sit about an hour (the extraction vessels were fairly warm at this point).
Added Naptha(reclaimed from 1st extraction), 1.5 quarts to each.
Put vessels in a hot water bath for about 2 hours. Temp was steady at 150 f I think this was too long because the naptha pulled other compounds out of the bark slurry.

I collected the naptha (1 quart out of each vessel) and freeze precipitated.
Collected a total of 18g of really dirty brown spice.

Cleaned up 18g with activated charcoal (ratio 1/3 charcoal/1g DMT in warm clean naptha (20ml naptha/1g DMT). Let sit overnight.

Poured off excess naptha and let the jars dry. SEE PICTURE

Recovered a total of 12grams. 6 grams of very pure fluffy crystals and 6 grams of tan/yellow crystals .

I think leaving the NP in the hot slurry for too long pulled too much garbage over to the naptha. I'm going to make some changa with the dirty cystals and bioessay.

Good job! You did a very nice job cleaning it up. Warm water bath does help pull more spice, but as you noted, heat pulls more unwanted stuff also. I have gotten away from using heat and I rely more on time. A nice long soak will pull the goods out. Many dont have allot of time when they do their teks.

When I extracted the warm NP, it started precipitating instantly. At first it was really fine brown particles, as the naptha cooled then I noticed the crystals forming. I don't know what this brown stuff is, any ideas?

the brown stuff is probably MHRB bark particles that you sucked up during the pulls.

Im imagine the brown stuff was a little MHRB/lye/water slurry particles. No problem there because you did a charcoal filtration. nice!

I think 1,5% is a great yeild with most of the bark thats out there. The only way to find out if there is more in there is to pull, pull, pull! I would stay away from the heat and go with time. store the jars at room temp, somewhere dark and out of the way. Shake em up from time to time and seperate in a couple of weeks or a month or more. You have plenty of spice now, right?

If you think your getting to the end of the extraction take your last pull and evap it instead of freezing it. Thats always an option.

I never call it quits until nothing left comes out!

I recommend doing 2 cold pulls at least before you start heating up the jugs. If you are still careful you get a whiter white still.
Also, I'm thoroughly convinced using filtered water is a major key in getting snow white.
Lastly, unless space is an issue split that key up into 4 jugs. It seems to increase surface area and thus yield.
