Hi there,
I am about following the classic 69Ron D-Limonene technique for extracting alkaloids form San Pedro - I have all the required items and 6 meters of San Pedro ready to go. The only thing I'm stuck on is the purification process using MEK. Obviously the MEK needs to be anhydrous to do its duty, but I don't understand how to get it to that state without a lab...
The Wiki says to put magnesium sulfate into the MEK, let it sink then decant the MEK. That makes sense, but as soon as the MEK is exposed to the air wouldn't it just reabsorb water from the atmosphere? Or does freezing it prevent that from happening?
My plan is to chuck some epsom salts in the MEK, then decant with a syringe, freeze the syringe then squeeze the MEK onto the mescaline acetate. How can I avoid water contaminating it in this process??
Also, can the D-Limonene be used as many times as you want with no problems? Is there anything you do to it after each extraction, or is it good to go as soon as it's separated from the vinegar (after three or four pulls)? I keep reading about people "salting" the D-Limonene and I have no idea what that means in this context.
Thank you for any help, and for making this information available. Please understand that I did my best to find an answer to this but I don't know what key words to search for. My apologies if it's a stupid question.
