hi folks,

i am currently trying to extract some DMT from MHRB and have a few questions if you wouldnt mind.

ok i did a STB run using white spirit and after seperating the solvent i put in the freezer. i got my coffee filter ready and opened the fridge to see the jar was caked in clean white crystals! i quickly removed the lid and poured the cloudy solvent into the filter however at this point i realised it was draining incredlibly slowly and as i thought might happen the solvent warmed up to much and the remaining solvent in the filter disolved the lumps of DMT and pulled it all through.

so i guess my first question is, how do you get around that happening? its about 40ml of naptha so warms up quite quickly, i was thinking putting everything in the freezer then pouring it in the putting it back into the freezer where it can take its time without a problem. i dont know if that would work, i dont see why not but if anyone has a better way?

ok the other thing i dont understand, in vovins tek when extracting it says:
Quote:

Naphtha 100 ml X3 (6 if you had to split your liquid in half during basification)

now, why if you split your liquid in half do you still use 100ml? surely you would also half the solvent and do 6x 50ml? if not i dont see how the naptha would be saturated enough to do a freeze seperation?

i am proberbly reading this completely wrong but if the ratio of solvent to lye/MHRB liquid isnt constant, why?

thanks in advance.

update:

i ended up putting the naphtha back into the MHRB solution and warmed it in attempt to get as much DMT in it as possible then tried again with the freeze precipitation this time putting the collection jar and filter in the freezer and quickly pouring it in then closing the freezer however the amount of DMT that collected was so tiny i couldn't even collect it. i also noticed second time round the DMT was quite yellow in colour.

i think i will get hold of some lighter fluid and see where i get with that.

oh, i also managed to emulsify my naphtha pretty bad, is there any way of separating it or should i just accept it as a lose and get rid of it?

I solve my emulsions by either heat, more lye, or both.

I like to make things up, everything above is made up and not real, it is a story for my own amusement. Sorry if you felt mislead.

I normally have to edit my posts within a couple of minutes for prose, spelling and grammar. Just to let you know.

damn it turns out i poluted my naptha, the sodium carbonate i bought despite not mentioning it on the packet contains magnesium hydroxide and Silica.

when trying to use to to wash it made my naptha cloudy and further washing with water does nothing Sad

is there anything i can do to save it?
