I have a really nice batch of spice that unfortunately wound up with a lot of lye in it. It's the particular brand of lye I think; I won't get it again. So now I've got dry spice that I've dissolved in hot solvent and poured off to evap three times now, hoping to clean it, to no avail. (I didn't realize at first that it was lye that was the problem.) It did get prettier every time though, heh. It's useless to me this way, but I don't know how to clean it. I have never succeeded doing the carbonate wash. I'm wondering, if I put the spice back into solvent, and then introduce a mild acid, what would happen? Forgive me if that's a stupid question. Perhaps the acid would react with the lye and explode my container, or the heat would destroy the spice. Is there some other way? "What's wrong with that generation? ... lye is not soluble in naptha. so what happens is it falls to the bottom of the naptha, where the basified solution would be. all you have to do is a recrystallization process as described here https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...oes_one_recrystallize.3Fviola! clean DMT! ;]

Thanks, House. I have one more question. If I am doing every part of the re-X process the same except pouring it out to evap instead of freezing, shouldn't the lye be in with the goo at the bottom of the shot glass? Wow, I followed the instructions exactly, but it's still the same. Impossible to smoke, burns your lungs. I've heard of people using even red-devil-type lye, and it working okay. This was supposedly food-grade lye. I'm using VM&P and I really can't imagine what else could be the problem? "What's wrong with that generation? ... Well if you properly executed this you shouldnt have any lye in there what-so-ever and maybe you are just finding the molecule itself harsh. Are you burning it instead of vaporizing it?

Extract syrian rue to get pure harmalas and make sure you acidify your DMT before ingesting it. Drop it in some lemon juice or something and ingest that.
