I am curious about both substances, but I would like to know how they compare in certain ways:

1) Which one would be best to use first?
2) I'm aware that both of them can be frightening, but which one is more likely to produce a "bad trip?"
3) Which one is more refreshing? By which I mean, which one is more healing? Which one has a longer lasting impression?
4) I've heard DMT is easier to extract than making ayahuasca is. Is this true? Also, how hard is it to screw up ayahuasca? What's the likelihood of making a good brew on the first try?

All answers are very much appreciated.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

theres a lot to think about.

with ayahausca you're gonna have a much longer duration and it much different then just vaporizing pure dmt. also with ayahausca you'll have to eat a special maoi diet before your trip.

dmt extraction is very easy, might as well go that route and then save some bark for down the line if you want to do some ayahausca brews.

Vaporized DMT only lasts like 10-15 min while aya can last for several hours.
Vaporizing spice would probably be the best bet for an intro if you're concerned about the freakout factor.

It's all about set and setting. A "bad trip" can happen with either but with vaped spice, like I said before, it will only last for a few minutes so you can gather your bearing before going deeper.

3) Which one is more refreshing? By which I mean, which one is more healing? Which one has a longer lasting impression?
Aya is by far the most healing and with the longer duration, most likely to bring about the most transformation and reflection.

4) I've heard DMT is easier to extract than making ayahuasca is. Is this true? Also, how hard is it to screw up ayahuasca? What's the likelihood of making a good brew on the first try?
The hardest part about preparing Aya is patience. It takes a long time to boil and reduce and if you don't boil it long enough, all of the alkaloids won't transfer to the brew. I've messed up quite a few aya brews but practice makes perfect.

All answers are very much appreciated.

Hope this helps and welcome to the Nexus Very happy

The special "maoi diet" thing is a myth made up by white people that has no basis in traditional ayahuasca cultures. You can eat cheese and ripe bananas if you like before and after ayahuasca. Tyramine is not a problem. You do have to watch out when it comes to other substances you might be taking that interact with a RIMA though. Take note of what medications, or other psychoactives you take before and after and make sure they are okay to combine with a RIMA..beyond that there is no such thing as an "maoi diet".
Long live the unwoke.
