I have two jam jars quarter full of naphtha (Bartoline White Spirit) hopefully with a big bunch of DMT base dissolved within. One of them, consists of only clean (no gunk) Naphtha which is a light yellow colour. The naphtha in the other jam jar was taken from the first two pulls (with gunk) and also got some of the tail end of the 3rd and final pull (also with gunk). The naphtha in here is slightly more yellow than in the other jar which was mostly due to the earlier pulls being stronger in colour than the final pull.

The final pull got to sit around for around 3 hours, whereas the others only got half an hour. Would this be the reason why the naptha in the 3rd pull has less colour in it? Or is it rather more that the first pulls are stronger, hence more alkaloids, hence more yellow colour?

Anyways, I am now faced with the dilemna of whether to wash the naphtha collection with Sodium Carbonate Washing Crystals (with caking agent), just wash the jar with the gunk in, or not to bother with the Sodium Carbonate wash at all and just go straight to freeze precipitation.

I wouldn't be doing the wash with any fancy equipment as described in Vovin's Tek, I would just be using a tall jam jar and a Turkey Baster.

Knowledgeable advice would be much appreciated.

If you are doing a freeze prec. I would not do a wash. You won't be able to get out all of the water with a jar and turkey baster setup, and your DMT and solvent will get mixed & trapped in the frozen water and cause you to facepalm. If evapping, go right ahead and wash it the water you cant totally remove will evap out.

It's hard enough to get all the water to come out with a separatory funnel, i wouldn't even think about trying with a turkey baster.

If you do want to freeze prec. and your spice comes out ugly, you can always recrystallize!

Although its too late for this extraction, this is good information to know. I did however make sure that I got the max amount of water out possible, even if it meant pissing a bit of the naphtha solution away. On the other hand I am hoping that the small white dots appearing all over the jars in the freezer are DMT and not DMT/water which will simply dissolve the DMT upon melting.

btw....what exactly do you mean by facepalm? Do you simply mean to make an arse of the extraction or do you mean something more specific?

Do a wash. It is invaluable ime. If you able to purcahse a pipette do it. The ones you can get in hydro shops work very well, range in size of opening and cheap! But ask your local hyrdoshop.
