DMT solvent seperation.

I am following (or trying to) the Lextek.

As can be seen from images, I have a layer of scum/gunk in my solution, it seems to be sandwiched in between my naptha (bartoline white spirit) layer.

Could someone recommend at which point I seperate out the solvent from the mix. The (ultra thin) clean layer is marked with a blue arrow, the layer of scum is marked in green, and what seems like the total Bartoline White Spirit (naptha substitute) layer is marked in red.

any knowledgeable input would be greatly appreciated.

..it can be good to attempt centrifugal force or slight change in ph to break the 'emulsion'..should be some stuff if you search nex about emulsions (extended sitting of mixture can also help)
..you could evaporate the clear alkaloid layer, & if there are no (or minimal alkaloids), then they are trapped in the emulsion..

Ho ha.

So this is why an emulsion is undesirable. I shall try to freeze precipitate the naphtha (Bartoline white spirit) and see what happens, whilst letting the rest of it sit for as long as it takes.

Put the solution in its container in a hot water bath, this will often clear the emulsion. Other choices as well as adding more base are adding salt or vibrating the solution (sticking it on a bass bin for instance).

That top drawer bit of advice has arrived a little late unfortunately......but not too late......

I have the 3rd pull sitting settling/ed out just now, I shall go and dunk it in some warm water.

Cheers 4 that.
