Hello everyone,

Firstly I want to thank all the staff here for making this place such a fountain of information and idea

I am currently in the process of my first Mhrb extraction and am having some problems.

I started off with 50g lye, 250ml water, 50g MHRB powder. this was mixed and let to sit for two hours. then i added 70cl napatha. this was mixed and let to sit for 30 min at which point i siphoned off the napatha (which was extremely clear) and put in a pyrex dish to evap.

After it evap'd i was left with a slimy gel like goo.

For the second pull of 60ml ( after an hour ) i decided to put it in the freezer to try the all famous freezer participation. at this time i was kinda frustrated due to the goo result and went to bed.

when i woke up the was a cloudy layer at the bottom of the jar in the freezer but no crystals. i put it through a silk screen filter and nothing was left! I filtered it back into the container figuring i better not waste anything.

Well this was frustrating. no result back to where i started minus the goo. My thoughts where that i had too much base in the mixture. So i decided to open another HDPE container and start container B. This time i adjusted the MHRB and the lye (i guess i got the math wrong when doing the original ratios ) this time it was 20g lye 250ml water 20g MHRB. I did everything as before and after sitting it out to evap, i got the goo again! At this time i went to the interwebz and am turning to the trusted Nexus Knowledge!

Please help. can you see where i went wrong? maybe its something about fat/oil? the goo smells like plasticy (i have never tried or smelled dmt so i dont know its easy to recognize smell that i have read about)

The first thing that comes to mind is that if you just put the naptha in, mix it once and the decant, you're leaving a lot of goodies in there.

For your next pull, pour the naptha in and mix it REALLY well. Like 5+ min.

Let it separate and then do it again 3-5 more times before pulling the naptha out.

You've got coax the spice to go into the naptha. The more contact it has with it, the more likely it will dissolve into it.

That might have been the problem. You have to mix. 50g is not a huge amount of bark, so a slight mistake could mess up your result. That's why i advise to use a bigger amount ...at least 250g, so you will at least have SOME spice even if your bark is of inferior quality or you make mistakes. Also, before free precip, the solution should be cloudy BEFORE you put it in. This is a sign for DMT saturation.

Melodic: I have been shaking jar A with some new napatha and can see a difference already after one good shaking. the reason i didnt shake before was cuz there are a bunch of little holes in the lid on my container that i didnt notice when i bought them :-/ o well i just covered them and shook and it worked well.

obliguhl: I was thinking the same thing that maybe i just didnt have enough starting material to see a real end result. i plan on buying a new hdpe container today.


Update: After posting and seeing your very helpful comments i re-dissolved the goo from my pyrex with the recycled (but failed) first free precip in a hot water bath then decant till about 10-15 ml which are in the freezer now. and after about 100 min i can see a bunch of small white dots on the bottom of the jar that i hope are crystals :-)

this was the same mistake i had in my first extraction ,but second time i used 100 gram of MHRB and mixed very well every 15 min for 6 times and i had alot of yields

What are the physical qualities of this goo?
