I was thinking about doing the gibran tek on some caapi leaf but does anyone know how long i need to boil the leaf in acidic water? myguess is that leaves go faster than the 12 hour for vine?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I tried the caapi extraction TEK on a small quantity of what I think were weak leaves and didn’t get anything. I think someone else posted about trying to extract from leaves and not getting good results. Maybe there’s something in the leaves that prevents freebase alkaloids from cleanly precipitating? I don’t know.

If you try it, please post your results!

Ok then i will probably just do a solvent soak instead..

So what is the verdict on best solvent to use for this?

Does heptane work better than acetone to get harmalas out of caapi leaf? i have a hard time finding anything else.

Acetone is a pretty poor solvent for harmalas in my experience.
It's been fun. Thanks for all the wisdom.

I would try to get as close to grain alcohol as possible. Everclear is good but not available where I live. I've had great results with Spirytus Rektyfikowany. Its a Polish brand of alcohol and is 190 proof. It gets the job done well. Of course you can "go against the grain" and pick the cheaper alternative... 90-99% IPA. whichever you choose Definitely do two soaks to make sure you get most of the goodies out.

Even the solvent soak isn't the most efficient way of extracting harmalas from leaf. It does seem to work better than any other method I've seen so far. It just takes a lot of time. There seems to be conflicting points of view on if the two to three weeks of soaking is even necessary. If your short on time I would just do a few soaks within a week. Personally I just let it sit and macerate a few weeks. Then strain the solvent from the leaf and store it. Soak the leaf again for a week or two. Strain and combine the two batches of collected solvents to evap onto some fresh leaf. Patience is the most important ingredient in this recipe.

I've used 99% IPA on caapi vine and let it soak for two weeks. I made 10X changa with it but I can't say I felt any effects from the caapi Sad
I've used 25gr. of the same caapi for tea with quite strong effects so the caapi is not bunk. I don't know why this didn't work for me.

I've never tried this method on vine before only leaves. Maybe you should have let is soak for longer? I really don't know. I think your much better off sticking to gibran2's tek if your working with vine.

You can never go wrong brewing yourself a cup of caapi tea. Smile

I found ipa (isopropanol) in a hardware shop but when i came home and pour some out it was blue wtf!

I guess the blue color is something they add so people won´t drink it.

Any idea what it could be and can i get it out someway?

Yeah, They add color and additives to IPA to discourage people with "problems" from drinking it. You need to find pure clear IPA. Shouldn't be too hard to find depending on where your from.

It sucks that i paid alot for this stuff =(

I did try to evap some on a glas dish and it didnt seem to leave anything behind.

Is it impossible to clean this up? cause i don´t have to much hope on finding anything else around where i live.

I ended up using acetone with decent results, i will do gibrans on the "spent" leaf to see how much is left though.
