SWIM has tried Q21Q21's tek 1 and has ended up with the vinegar solution containing (hopefully!) the jimjam. However, SWIM is not 100% sure about the evapping process to get the freebase jimjam.

Since SWIM has used only 50g MHRB as a test, SWIM is not worried about creating the tincture or long term storage, and just wants to get the pure freebase goodies straight away. SWIM is currently evapping using a small heater fan pointed at a small amount of the vinegar solution (didn't want to use it all in case it goes wrong) on a plate. However, the tek description talks about evapping at a specific temperature (90 - 100 degrees C). So SWIM's question is this. Is the specific temperature actually a fundamental part of creating the freebase? Or is it simply a case that it doesn't matter at what temp, or how long the evapping takes, as long as the vinegar DOES get evaporated? I.e. if SWIM's method for evapping above is used, is there a chance that the remaining stuff will just be an acetate? Or will it be freebase regardless?

It doesn't matter to much as far as I know. if anything doing it too low would only cause a little vinegar contamination throughout the goo that could be cooked off in the spoon-lighter method when the volume is low enough for the spoon.

I remember the first time I tried smoking acetates I tasted A LOT of vinegar and it was odd to smoke, this was evaporated at room temperature into a yellow-syrup-goo (was originally yellow naptha-pulled freebase) compared to the thick yellow molasses-y or even solidfying stuff from the spoon-lighter method (from white freebase originally) which has little if any vinegar taste.

Yes that helps a lot. Thanks very much for clarifying. SWIM was left with a decent amount of the syrup after evapping, so he will try the spoon method to get rid of the remaining vinegar.
