Hi,

I just finished my second extraction and the result is much more -- yay!
I did the A/B extraction, which I find perfect.
But I do have two questions:

* In my second extraction, once I took the tray out of the fridge I poured the Naphtha out and put it near a fan. However, I found that it was all a little oily. I noticed that some small crystals basically melted. I ALSO noticed that the bottom of the glass bowl had a layer of dark gunk, which came out especially when I scraped the bottom. I assume that's because the bowl wasn't totally clean in the first place? What do I have to do to make sure that it's completely clean? What should I wash it with? Dishwashing liquid? Naphtha? Acidic stuff?

* The second question: any pearls of wisdom for when you take the spice out of the freezer? I am using a fan. But it's hot here and I can't help that. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Mercurio

On your first question, I just use dishwashing liquid. Works fine for me.
If the gunk is really dark I would suspect that you pulled some tiny drops of your basified soup.

On the second question, try to dry it without the fan at the coolest place you have. May take a bit longer but reduces oxidation.

Hi,

Hummm maybe I did end up with some of the basified soup. Damn it!

Your second trick might well be the best piece of advice I've received... Maybe I should put it in the fridge first, and then freezer? (I am talking about the emptied stuff)

Bye,

Mercurio

I´m not sure if I´m getting you right.
Just to clarify don´t put any open vessel with naphta into your fridge or freezer, otherwise you´ll end up with a contamination of your food. Butter and so on with naphta flavor. Yummi.

When you take your jar with crystals out of the freezer, then get your crystals to flow around in the naphta if they stick to the glas, pur the whole mix through a coffee filter and then let your filter with your goodies dry at the coolest place you have.
But don´t put that filter into the fridge!!!
