Swim has been looking for an alternative to newport lighter fluid as he can only get it online but hates ordering things as he ends up not hearing the door and having to go collect stuff. He noticed people on the nexus mention that swan lighter fluid works but when he tried a freeze precip only a very very small amount of xtals appeared (has been there 5+ days now).

Could it be that he needs to evap when using this solvent or could there be another reason for the tiny yeild? Does it need to be left alot longer in the soup before removing. Swim left it about 15 - 20 mins.

thanks Smile

Swan's fine.

I think you're probably using too much solvent for your pulls.

^^^ as soulfood said.

In addition to making more smaller pulls, you could also evap the solvent down a bit, say till it gets cloudy when blown on, also is the freezer cold enough?

I thought I'd ask here rather than start a new thread on the subject. What does the whole cloudy at room temp actually meen about a solvent. because swims solvent is cloudy at room temp now that hes taken it out of the freezer and it precipitated a very tiny amount of xtals. Note that swim didnt evap it till it was cloudy just that having been removed from freezer and brought the temp back to room temp it is cloudy. Smile

The clouds are the DMT coming out of the solution. It's basically the visual cross over point for crystal formations about to begin.

Ah thanks for the info! So swim did another pull with 50ml swan this time. He then did another pull with 50ml naptha from newport brand. the pull with swan yeiled barely anything prehaps 1mg while the newport pull yeiled an excellent amount.

Swim has noticed its actually swan extra refined lighter fluid. Is this the type others use?

Swim will try agitating the solvent / soup more and for longer and combining a few pulls as well as evapping to see if this has any help.

Yeah... heavier naphtha types will always pull more, but equally they don't like to give the goods back Smile

aha. Swim did four 50ml pulls which he agitated much more than he normally finds he needs to with newport brand naptha and also left it for longer. He combined the pulls and left to evap before moving to the cold place. Swims very happy with the results and feels bad for doubting the swan brand it worked very nicely indeed Very happy

That being said the <50ml pull with newport brand seems to have yeiled about the same amount So will have to keep swims eyes open for it in newsagents.

I can confirm that in my experience all the above brands of lighter fluids have worked equally as well, just a shame you get so little in the cans, because it's quiet expensive compared to heavier naptha that comes in litre bottles, oh well.

How cold dose the freezer need to be for good fast results?

I guess I will soon find out!

Also, I gather top shelf is best in freezer
