Hi there. SWIM's planning to follow the non-toxic DMT tek by amor fati, but he's wondering if lime is as efficient for extracting as lye (he's read that lime isn't as water soluble as lye is, and therefore won't react as strongly). He wants to keep all his materials food grade, but is wondering if he'll incur any losses in yield for taking this approach. Can anyone comment on extraction yields when using lime compared to the traditional lye/naptha tek? Thanks!

I consistently pull .8-1.2% with my bark using completely food grade techniques, lime included. I've hit this range consistently with different varieties of bark.

Could I pull more?

I am not willing to explore the dangers of lye to answer that question. I am very happy and blessed to smoke what I have.

It depends what is more important to you. Do you want good, safe yields, or the highest yields possible? You *can* get extremely satisfactory yields that were collected in a gentle way. I have read reports of higher yields, but there are so many variables.
Some things will come easy, some will be a test

SWIM also pulls .9-1.2% on his bark consistently using lime. (using Q21Q21's teks)

More noteworthy is that he never got any higher than .6% using lye STB teks.

Lime will do the job and is an easier and safer alternative to caustic lye.
Q21Q21's Tek: A comprehensive guide to extracting DMT
The 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.

I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs

Safety is key here. SWIM was actually always unwaveringly, dead set on going food grade, but was just curious to know whether other explorers found any compromise. Glad to hear what you guys have said here though.

SWIM finds that the processes his psychedelics have been through always feed back and reflect throughout the trips, so it's really important to get it right, cut the hapless, destructive consumerism, and make sure his shamanics have had the right exposure on their journey towards his brain.
