Hi all,

I recently purchased the Collins Nature Guide to Mushrooms & Toadstools of Britain & Europe to find it didn't contain any of the psilocybe genus. Anyone know why? I heard it was a useful book to have, and it is very good for other mushrooms. Just a bit disappointed it doesn't cover these.

Probably the same reason why google won't autosearch porn. I guess they don't want to be seen supplying information on psychedelics.

Because they are considered poisenous...and why would someone want to collect poisenous mushrooms?

Well a large proportion of the mushrooms in the book are listed as poisonous. It also lists fly agaric, and notes its hallucination inducing properties. Maybe I bought the wrong edition, saying that I can't find out what edition it is, so maybe there only was one.

THIS is the mother of identification books for your intent Wink Some things are a bit out dated in the book but it covers LOTS of information..... so enjoy Very happy Razz

Psilocybe Mushrooms Ident

Edit: Also a hint too, become aware of the mushrooms terminology and mushrooms DESCRIPTIONS and never (well i never or rarely) go by a set "standard" of pictures because mushrooms can change with the environment. (i.e. dry caps shade or color, bruising can make it appear to be something its not, etc) And with PLENTY of look-alikes out there, go by description AND spore print... never ingest ANY mushroom without a spore print to confirm the species.

SWIM and ElusiveMind are fictional characters and everything they say is fictional
