This is a repost of this topic posted the day before yesterday, as it appears it may have been lost in the server error experienced a few hours ago?

I realise that this is not a question, though this content does not fit anywhere else in the Nursery area.
Perhaps this information may be useful to some regardless.

Just doing some experimentation with this: http://www.thcfarmer.com...aporizer-cheeeeep-19195/

SWIM began by creating a chamber around a 50w infrared bulb with foil and placing a test tube in this chamber.
IR rays heat objects, not the air, so in theory an object such as stainless wool should be nicely heated.
Inside the test tube a piece of stainless steel wool was placed with the end of a temperature probe buried within.
SWIM found this was able to reach 150C within a minute or so, and was still climbing.

A more sturdy chamber was built, and tubing implements where added to the test tube for air flow.
A DMT loaded SS wool piece was placed at the bottom of the tube, and the device turned on, with the temp probe in place.
SWIM drew air from the tube repeatedly as the temp climbed to observe at which temperature the product began to vaporize.

Observations:
-It was noted that the spice became liquid around 45-50C, as assumed by other peoples observations.
-The slight taste became apparent around 180C

-Vapor began forming at ~190C, with it becoming more rapid at 200C.

-The air drawn from the test tube was apparently hot to the tongue, enough that a longer tube is assumed to be required.
SWIM did not allow it to get hot enough to burn the product, where the smoke is formed.
-The fresh air drawn into the test tube was cool enough to slow vaporization, as it was noted that vapor would form at the beginning of the draw, and cease moments after.
A proposed solution is to have the air intake come from inside the heated chamber, and not outside as in the original device.

Conclusion:
This probe tops out at 200C, but it gave enough room to estimate vaporization in this device to be in the range of 185-200C.
SWIM cannot conclude that this is the general range of vaporization of DMT, but it gives some base information to go by.
The device may work well for a stationary, home use vaporizer, provided a few modifications are effective.

SWIM hopes that others find this useful!
Fire away.

SWIM thought it worth mentioning that the main interest here is to find an easy method to safely do without butane inhalation and its taste. Not trying to make things more complicated. Pleased
Candles are not safe, neither is nichrome heater wire (contaminant inhalation risk).
Also just looking for an interesting and fun DIY alternative.

Update of the test:
SWIM used a test tube made into an inspirator type device (blew hole into bottom, filled with porous ceramic bits, and added a screen)
(a small hole is made by heating the very tip of the test tube until red hot, with a torch, then blowing gently into the tube until a hole pops through [create a seal])
A longer tube was also added to allow sufficient cooling so as to not burn one's tongue...

The temp probe was placed outside the tube in this case, to see if a difference was noted between inside and outside.
While the screen containing product was inside the chamber, it was positioned so it was NOT within direct contact with the IR light (behind the piece of metal that holds the tube in place)

In this fashion, only the ceramic portion was exposed.
The idea being to create a more convective method of vaporization.

Results:
-At 185C, light evidence of vapor and taste were apparent, but it still tapered off after a moment. (Not hot enough to sustain vaporization)
-At 190C vapor was more rapid and effects were becoming slightly noticeable
-At 195+ vapor was consistent and strong.

Conclusion:
Concept appears sound.
SWIM will build a more permanent device and post some pics.
A bonus with this concept is one can easily change test tubes for use with herbs.
Obviously not fully portable though...

Cheers!
