. I think I've read somewhere (was it Entangled Life by M. Sheldrake (2020)?) that humans became 'superior' to animals thanks, among other things, to a mutation which allowed humans to still operate better when hangover in comparison to other animals. So, if all fruit was fermented, humans could still eat it & become drunk but also handle the hangover/drunkenness to not starve to death...
