SWIM has been trying various approaches to morning glory LSA lately and wants to understand the recent post on a nausea reducing oil wash. Sorry for not replying in the thread but my account is still limited to the nursery.

As SWIM understands the tek is as follows:

1. powder seeds
2. mix 5ml oil per gram of seed powder
3. let mix sit at room temp for a few hours shaking once in a while
4. filter out as much oil as possible using preferred method (french press, t-shurt, etc)
5. repeat steps 2-4 with mush recovered after filtering
6. resulting mush has most toxins removed with most actives remaining
7. place in water for a few hours stirring often
8. filter
9. decant off leftover oil
10. repeat with fresh water several times (the color will tell you when you are done extracting)
11. combine liquids

SWIM has the following questions:

In step 7 how much water is used if cold water is used?
It was mentioned that warm water can be used to reduce the volume. If this is done, how much water should be used and how warm should it be?
Should any acid (lemon / lime / vinegar) be used and if so how much?

In step 8-10 it was said that the color will tell you when you are done extracting. What color are you looking for in a wash to know that wash is done? What color are you looking for to tell that no more washes are necessary? About how many washes are used?

How much of the resulting liquid amounts to a single dose?

If one is converting to LSH when should the peppermint be added?

How long will the brew store in the fridge? How long in the freezer?

Thanks for any help answering these questions!

the tek is still in it's infancy.

1: and acid can be used, but SWIM didn't use one, the 40ml/g didn't even taste bad AT ALL when mixed with raspberry tang, though a tad oily. The acid might change that

2:just use room temp or cold water for now unless you'd like to "take one for the team" if it doesn't work and produces mass nausea like plain warm/hot water brewing.

3.SWIM was going to mix the complete brew (after all the steps) for a day at room temp with equal parts strong (cooled) coffee. This of course could be tried with peppermint as well.

cheers

Great, thanks for the reply! so if SWIM understands you correctly 40ml water per gram of seed powder should be used. Is that correct?

SWIM is curious - SWIM has not experienced nausea from a cold water extract when the oils are allowed to separate and decanted or filtered. Does that do the same thing as this tek? Would there be any advantage to this tek over that approach?
