I recently went to a small live gig with 'psychedelic drone rock'
It was like mayhem meets kula shaker. Brilliant black metal licked sitar and wall of sound. Tech drumming... shit was amazing. Leaned on the side of ambient at times and it got majorly flipped out... you know brain on the floor progressive whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

This is something id like to hear more off.
So please... recommendations?

Ive been into Mogwai for years, but what i heard the other night was a step forward.
I just discovered Coil on another thread.

“Right here and now, one quanta away, there is raging a universe of active intelligence that is transhuman, hyperdimensional, and extremely alien... What is driving religious feeling today is a wish for contact with this other universe.”
― Terence McKenna

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Oh yes, drone is definitely the next evolution of post-rock. Post-rock just got too big and pretty, for the most part, and needed to come back down off its pedestal. Though drone is nothing new, the recent resurgence of drone seems like post-rock's dispersion back into the underground with a tinge of punk and reverence to 70's psychedelia.

One of the best resources for drone music I know of: http://weedtemple.blogspot.com/
