Hello again everyone, I have been doing some research into this topic and have found that it appears people attribute this to one of three different reasons. I am not so sure any of these reasons are correct and wanted to see what people here think and weather people feel there is any possible health/safety issues associated with this effect.

(Most common responses in no particular order.)

Reason One: It does not occur the effected person continues to breath normally during the whole experience and the sensation is only another part of the DMT experience.

Reason Two: Breathing continues normally through out the experience but the effected person does gasp but only as an effect of the disassociation between high and lower brain functions (ie. you think you stopped breathing). Note this is the only reason I have been able to find any research into.

Reason Three: The effected person actually does stop breathing and lower brain function kicks in giving rise to the commonly reported near death experience (This is the reason that seems to give rise to the most medical concerns).

I am extremely interested into what everyone thinks or can report. If you have any other reason you feel doesn't fall into one of these three please feel free to elaborate.

Thank you

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

For myself personally, I've realized I only end up gasping for air if I become aware of the fact "I'm" not breathing while in the experience. I could go the whole time and never experience the sensation of breathing and it won't bother me. But if I do suddenly, for whatever reason, become aware of the absence of the feeling and think "that's a thing I should be doing", I'll gasp. But from what I'm told I only make a small noise or take a deeper breath and that typically, my breathing is very steady.

Divine gift does not come from a higher power, but from our own minds.
