Hi My oh my, what a lovely trip to Scotland we have had (Me and gf and two dogs) We usually go up every year to stay for a week or two in either a caravan or hotel. Scotland is known for its bountiful flushes of liberty caps (p.semilanceata) if you catch it right, and wow, did we catch it just perfect! On the last day we found a field that had so many liberty caps in it, we could of filled a whole garbage bag, shame we only had an hour before dark... Well ill stop typing and post all of the pics taken on the day for your viewing pleasure I present to you, West coast of Scotland liberty cap porn... Peace P.S they are very nice and very potent! infinitynlove attached the following image(s): gfgfdgfd.jpg (2,653kb) downloaded 175 time(s). Image1.jpg (353kb) downloaded 173 time(s). The promised land! I have a very dear friend in the UK, I’ll probably pay a visit to in a few years. This just got added to the itinerary. How fun! "We dance round in a ring and suppose, while the secret sits in the middle and knows." Robert Frost

And, besides all the psilocybin, tryptamine etc rap, what do these little ones mean for you? What do they represent? What are they for you? The consciousness of plants is a constant source of information for medicine, alimentation, and art, and an example of the intelligence and creative imagination of nature. Much of my education I owe to the intelligence of these great teachers. Thus I consider myself to be the “representative” of plants, and for this reason I assert that if they cut down the trees and burn what’s left of the rainforests, it is the same as burning a whole library of books without ever having read them.

The great thing is, as infinitynlove says, liberty caps appear throughout the length and breadth of the British isles so even if you don't make it to Scotland you shouldn't have to travel particularly far in order to stand a good chance of finding some. infinitynlove - your pictures are wonderful - they bring back many a happy memory for me. Quote:Best found in sheep fields that have not been fertilized Believe you me, cow and horse fields that have only been fertilized by the livestock themselves can be the source of some remarkable finds as well. General safety and security notes - It's important only to visit those fields when the livestock are absent. Cow and horse fields are also much more likely to be frequented by the land owners or their agents so ensure that you have permission to be there. This should be common sense, I suppose, but it does bring me on to the final point - sheep fields tend to have the additional advantage of being secluded uplands. Try to choose places with 'Right to Roam' access. Hey there You are absolutely correct, the beauty of lib hunting in the Scottish highlands is you have the right to hike and roam and even camp (pitch a tent start a controlled fire) anywhere! Most of these lands will hardly have any farmers or even people on them and at worst their will just be a farmer herding sheep with his border collie. The rest of the uk is much more populated than the highlands, with lots more people roaming about... Outside of the highlands, when I find a field that is laden with libs, I will always ask the farmer if I / we can forage for yellow wax caps (Edible mushrooms that grow in the same fields as liberty caps) and I offer to remove any toxic mushrooms and trash that I / we find as service whilst offering them £10 for the privilege, every single farmer I have asked has said yes and none of them have ever taken the £10! That's one way to ensure safe picking.... I do not worry when picking in the uk, our police are pretty nice, most of the time if they catch you picking wild libs they will just take them of you and give you an on the spot fine... if you get caught a second time they will probably arrest you but it will be just a fine and maybe some community service. But if you have permission to pick the wax caps whilst removing all of the toxic ones, you have a legal reason to do what you are doing Peace <3 I am certifiably insane, as such all posts written by me should be regarded as utter nonsense or attempts to get attention in fact everything I write here is a lie !

I've had scottish liberty caps once. They where amazing. Quite potent. Almost as strong by weight as panaeolus cyanescens.

Great post thanks for sharing. I'm Scottish, live in Glasgow and have frequented the west coast many times. Liberty Caps seem to appear at the highest altitudes first, and they are the strongest, then they start appearing lower down, right along to sea level (especially on the west). The first flush is the strongest flush you get after that they seem to get more abundant until their biggest flush around first frost and full moon. The full moons seem to bring them up faster. We even get a flush in April sometimes! And they can be found growing as late as November some years. What a find! They're my favourite apart from Panaeolus cyanescens (Coplandia). I've grown up on 'Libs' having some profound moments and I think they help with healing the brain. Glad you found what you were looking for! Sweet! Those are gorgeous pics! From a fellow mycovenator and enthusiast from across the pond! Libs used to be quite prevalent in the suburbs where I live in the US Pacific Northwest, but development has taken many of the fields where they used to proliferate. I never got into hunting while they were still the go-to species for psychedelic mushroom hunters. Nowadays, ps. cyanescens are the most common ones found, at least in urban areas and suburbs. I think it is quite interesting that that species comes into disturbed and landscaped ares as a enviromental remediator species. They are there for healing on many levels. One of these days I want to travel to the land of my ancestral heritage, Scotland, and Britain to see the henges and to take part in some liberties. And hunt/eat some mushrooms.
