That depends on what you mean by 'DMT taste'. Very pure DMT is virtually odourless, even as the freebase. Most of the floral/new sneaker/plasticky/mothball/halitosis/faecal odour is due to increasing concentrations of other, more strongly scented indolic impurities such as indole and skatole. Considering these kinds of compounds are fairly commonplace in nature, it's not so uncommon to notice them especially after such a powerful priming experience as a DMT journey.
Classic 'floral' odours are largely down to those two aforementioned indoles.
