I've seen multiple people notice that the DMT come out more yellow when naphtha it's heated at higher temps in the water bath and more white at lower temps. Have anyone done more experimentation on this? In what temp range should you keep the bath at not to get it more yellowish?

Heat your Naphtha as high as possible and then do a recrystallization.

The solubility of DMT in Naphtha dramatically rises with temperature and even though you dont 'need' such a high solubility for all of your goodies in the water phase, it really accelerates the migration of DMT from the water into the Naphtha.

This way you will get much more of your goodies out with much less pulls and then you will just need a tiny bit of Naphtha again for recrystalization.

You may even miss some goodies out if you pull too low and not pull often enough - so I would recommend to stay safe and get your goodies out as much and as fast as possible, then purify if needed afterwards.

It may also heavily depend on the bark, I encountered where pulling at 60 °C (lower boiling range limit of regular hardware store Naphtha) already produced totally white material.

EDIT: So you refer to a special TEK and I never read it and dont know what it tells, but what I told is still valid overall.

Alright, thank you for your input! I'll go with near boiling water in the heat bath then, and do a reX if necessary Smile

Instead of a heating bath which may take some time to equilibrate with your container (aqueous solution + Naphtha) you could also just heat the container directly.

Just put it on medium heat and monitor the temperature. The benefit is that you can directly control the temperature of your mixture, which would be the most efficient if settled at 60 °C when pulling - this is the lower boiling range of the naphtha and you wont lose any of it when conducting a pull at that temp.

If your heat bath is boiling then you may not really know how hot the container placed inside is if not using a thermometer - and if you have one you could also just directly heat up the mixture.

Yea I've thought about heating the container directly, but since I don't have a crock-pot my only option is to heat it on the stove. I'm not running a gas stove with open flames, I run a electric stove, but still feels kinda scary with the naphtha in combination with the stove.
