Hello all,
For the first time ever, I have a few questions; the answers to which I have not been able to find in your amazingly resourceful forum and wiki.
I have recently rendered some Harmaline/Harmine Acetate crystals in the process of working through 'The Tao of Rue Extraction' (somewhat confusingly, it is referred to as Hcl (Hydrochloride) in the wiki but as Acetic acid is used, it would be the Acetate salt at this point - please correct me if I'm wrong).
Now the guide ends up, following multiple purification Manske's, performing final basification with sodium carbonate to render the freebase.
My questions are, what are the qualitative differences between the acetate and freebase?
Is the acetate useable, that is to say - orally consumable as is?
And is there a difference in stability between the two forms?
I understand that by basifying at the end then filtering, additional purification is occurring and that is clearly useful. In a related fashion, I also surmise that this step is ridding the end product of any remaining salt from the Manske processes. Am I thinking along the right lines?
I appreciate any information you may have,
Thankyou
