Hi,

Originally I began searching this site to understand what's occuring during chemistry and extraction. Even so, after reading the member tregar's post I have become fascinated with how traditional Ayahuasca brews are prepared.

I had a few questions in this regard.
--When using the chacruna leaf in brew is there a difference with fresh and dry leaves?
--Whats the difference between region based chacruna?
--if one where to get fresh leaves how would they maintain freshness?

It may be that fresh chacruna is best, but generally dried chacruna is considered as good as fresh.

I have heard when buying commercially Hawaiian Psychotria is some of the most potent, while Peruvian can be weaker or at least more variable. This is likely due to growing conditions, and possibly more tightly selected genetics in Hawaii.
If you cultivate your own plants, treat them as well as you can and I'm sure you will be rewarded. Some varieties may be more potent but I'm not sure if we have any named clones analyzed.

What country are you in? We can recommend places to acquire live plants and seeds, but not dried material here.

As kerelsk suggests, the best way to ensure freshness would be to grow the plant yourself. You would also be able to attend to environmental (and chronological) factors which have been reported to optimise potency.

From what I understand, the psychoactives naturally in plants occur bound to salts and are very chemically stable while in that form. It's after extraction that the goods may begin to spoil.
I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want a clever signature.

Im in the U.S. and would love to grow this plant. I just started gardening with some cactus.

From reading around it seems the Hawaiian Psychotria is more potent with people only using as little as 5g up to 35g for a mild to strong dose.

I haven't read any reports on the difference in dose between Psychotria from Ecuador, Peru, or Brazil.
Anyone know of any?

I'm assuming they would be around the same since how close those countries are.

I decided to go ahead and start cultivating my own B. Caapi and Psychotria Viridis.
Hopefully I'm rewarded in the long runSmile.
