The decriminalize nature movement that was successful in Oakland is growing. I don't know much about them, but they seem like a "grassroots" (pun intended) organization that works with local city council officials.

I could be wrong (will update as needed), buy this is how I understand the process:

- They have packets with information to give to any city council for review. Local citizens can bring these packets to the attention of their representatives. The information speaks for itself (like McKenna said, the truth is robust once you find it).

- After that, the city council cam vote on a resolution to make natural plants the lowest priority for law enforcement. A worded resolution template is already provided so work is mimimal. This does not change the law, but it directs law enforcement on where they should focus, which in practice is very important. For example there are places in the US where oral sex is forbidden by older local laws, and instead of going through the process of changing the law, the police simply choose to not prioritize enforcement.

The idea is to leave local citizens that grow their own plants and are not selling alone. This is tremendous progress for personal liberty amd access to nature. This also alows the police to heal it's relationship with the community since they are no longer forced to criminalize people over plants that are important to many people. Police resources can be redirected to crimes such as theft, rape, etc.

Below is a good place to get started. If you are a local citizen, you should be able to bring this information and process to your local city council Smile Don't miss the map with updates on over 100 cities Love

“But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.” - Saint John the Apostle

We get a little closer every day... people like us are the spearhead of these movements. I’m a member of norml and every other day I receive emails informing me on our progress. I write letters to my congressman and other political figures.. I know I’m just one person but I feel like I’m really apart of the movement taking place. Anyways.. great post and keep up the hard work guys. Together we’ll make a difference Thumbs up

One thing the growing Decriminalize Nature movement endorses are the concepts of Grow, Gather, Gift

The first two are straight forward. The third concept (Gift) is much more controversial. To be clear for the personal safety of anyone living in a country that is still violently oppressive against nature, gifting is risky.

But what if one wants to take on the risk and Gift? Motivations could be varied. For example, scientists have both (1) called for civil disobedience to help address the global threat from climate change because governments are not being responsible/responsive, and (2) called for decriminalization of psychedelics as they (2a) Fall in the schedule IV drug category scientifically, and (2b) improve a feeling of connection to nature which could be important for our species to react to climate change in a way that improves our chances of long term sustainable survival.

Interested in any opinions in Gifting.

In my case I avoid preaching or pushing anything on others. If a close friend has an interest, things change.

Thanks.
