I just wondering why it is working ? I am totally stupid to chemistry. Non polar solvent gives the dmt the N? Like N-N-DMT? Sorry for being stupid lol. Embarrased Big grin

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

The latter part of your question is a nomenclature issue. The "N" refers to the methyl groups being attached to the sidechain nitrogen atom. To distinguish this nitrogen atom from the indolic nitrogen atom in the DMT molecule, it's more properly written as "N',N'-DMT".

To learn about chemistry, follow the links in, e.g., this post

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Thank you very much! I read the basics chemistry forum but did not found this answer. So this molecule is in the root bark, and the lye and naphta just getting out the molecule somehow.

Please read this post!

In basic solutions (e.g. lye) DMT is deprotonated [a state known as the free base] and thus more soluble in NPS (e.g. naphtha) as it carries no charge.

In acidic solutions DMT is protonated and thus more soluble in polar solvents such as water.

Because naphtha does not mix with water, we can easily separate the two, and by changing the pH of the water we can make DMT migrate from one phase to the other accordingly as required.
