I'm not 100% sure what you're asking.
And my chemistry might be a bit off but...
Harmala crashes out of water in freebase form as it is insoluble in water. It crashes out in the salt form HCL during say a manske as harmala HCL is a) insoluble in water an b) it crashes as HCL because it borrows the Cl ion from the NaCl (salt) and forms harmala HCL thus crashing out as a salt form.
If your harmala is in freebase form in a solution for example other salts could be used such as citrate etc just depends on chemicsl properties of both the harmala and salt form used.
