What is the point of converting to salt for pharmahuasca Options

Hi folks,

I don't understand people saying you have to convert freebase dmt to a salt form before oral ingestion. Isn't there more than enough acid in our stomachs to easily convert an oral dmt dose to salt? Wouldn't this happens almost instantly?

The only downside I could think of is a little bit of gas might be produced from the reaction, but i'm not sure how significant this is. Or are there specific salts that are easier on the stomach than dmt-hcl that would be produced in the stomach?

Yes, but the free amine may first burn your esophagus a little as it rolls down.

I have seen phosphate (e.g. Coca Cola) and citrate (e.g. grapefruit juice) recommended. I do not know if there has been a study; my personal recommendation is to try drinking some acidic liquids (without DMT) and stick to the one your empty stomach likes best.
