Hi. I stumbled upon this tek on the web and I want to see what would you improve.

1.- weight 100 g mimosa tenuiflora root
2.- weight 500 g distilled water
3.- bring down the pH to 2 with HCl
4.- Grind mimosa root.
5.- poured the mimosa powder to acid water.
6.- mixing well readjusting pH to 2.
7.- keep the suspension over magnetic stirring for 3 hours.
1.- Filtration of acidic solution.
2.- You will get a red wine clear solution (It has the goods). This solution is at pH 2.
3.- NaOH is added until the solution reach pH 12.0
4.- keep the pH solution under agitation for 3 hours.
1.- Heat water at boiling point (NEVER USE A FLAME AS A HEAT SOURCE). The hot water will be working as a warm bath to increase petroleum ether (naphtha) temperature for extraction.
2.- Once petroleum ether has been warmed (100mL), pour off it into your pH 12 mimosa solution, stir it for 5 min.
3.- Pour off the petroleum ether/ mimosa suspension into a separatory funnel, let rest it until 2 well defined layers appear on it. Top layer will be petroleum ether with the goods and bottom layer will be basic/mimosa solution.
4.- Open the separatory funnel valve until all basis/mimosa solution has been catching in a beaker.
5.- Catch petroleum ether and goods solution into jar.
6.- Go back with this jar/petroleum ether goods into the warmed bath in order to evaporate this organic solution at half of its original volume (50 mL).
7.- Repeat 4 times for a total of 5 pulls.
8.- Once you have gotten 5 extraction, put jars into the freezer. The spirit molecule at its crystalline form will come out! Just be patient until next day.

Here are some of my improvements
1. Use acetic acid instead of HCl(besides a pH of 2 is not too acidic? I have worked always with a pH of 4)
2. Use NaOH solution(10%) instead of solid(I belive it would be better but maybe I am wrong)
3. Repeat the acid soak more times(4?) and at a hot temp(60C?) and then boil down to say 75% of original volume(so 700ml for 2000ml of original mimosa water)
4. Why does he stir for 3h in the NaOH addition? And for the acid soak only 90min sjould be enough
5. Do a carbonate wash
6. Shake in sep funnel.

That is bassically it. What you think it could improve? What do you think of my improvements?
