Hello All, I just put another extraction in the freezer for it to dry off. Thoughts on this? Is the yellow residue common? kdawgcal attached the following image(s): extract.jpg (78kb) downloaded 57 time(s).

Looks OK although with the resolution of the photo it's hard to tell. The main thing is to avoid having any dark red, purple or black specks in the dish. Perhaps there's one at the bottom of the picture towards the middle? The main thing is that the yellow oily stuff is still about 99% DMT, as determined by analysis. It just does that sometimes for a variety of reasons. EDIT: Quote:I just put another extraction in the freezer for it to dry off. Hang on, did you get these crystals from evaporation or freeze precipitation? In case of the former, it seems like the freezer is a strange choice of place to dry the crystals off. If the latter, it's a good idea to cover and invert the dish to allow the residual naphtha to drip off before finally removing from the freezer to air dry, waiting until the dish has warmed up before removing the cover in order to minimise condensation on the crystals. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Thanks for the reply! I should clarify, I had it sit in the freezer while it was covered so the DMT can settle to the bottom. I then had the dish turned upside down to have the remaining naphtha drip out. It's now drying near a fan (not directly on it). Here's a better photo as well kdawgcal attached the following image(s): extract hdr.jpg (1,748kb) downloaded 49 time(s).

Looks like the oil is hardening up. Likely it was due to residual naphtha. But you do seem to have some pink spots in there which look like base solution droplets have come over. If you think this is the case, I'd strongly suggest you recrystallise from heptane or light petroleum ether. Maybe you know this, but an easy way of circumventing base liquid carry-over is to put the separated naphtha into a holding jug before carefully transferring it to the precipitation dish. Best of luck! “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Thank you for your wisdom! I didn't put it in a holding container prior to the dish. Thank you for the input. I will be recrystallizing this

Very glad that I posted this, and very thankful for your advice. This is only my second extraction (newbiehood here!) Think I'll be sure to add a cleaning of the spice until I get a handle on things. Here's how it all looked when I added it back to the naptha kdawgcal attached the following image(s): recrystal1.jpg (1,576kb) downloaded 34 time(s). recrystal2.jpg (1,474kb) downloaded 34 time(s). recrystal3.jpg (1,090kb) downloaded 34 time(s).

After cleaning and drying, I have a consistent yellow color spice! I also picked up some glass cylinders to help with cleaning things up to try and get this sort of color again. kdawgcal attached the following image(s): final extract.jpg (1,142kb) downloaded 26 time(s).
