Best way to convert LSD freebase to LSD tartrate? Options

What's the best way to convert LSD freebase to LSD tartrate?

I tried dissolving the LSD freebase in room temp methanol, but I think I used too much and nothing precipitated out after adding the d-tartaric acid.

Maybe use acetone instead, then add tartaric acid in acetone, drop by drop until the LSD tartrate crashes out?

How would you go about this?

I highly doubt you have any LSD freebase, as it is a very delicate substance. If you want to preserve it for some time, you basically need an inert atmosphere (e.g. a nitrogen atmosphere).

IMHO basically the only chance of ever getting in contact with LSD FB is, if you synth it yourself.

All the LSD which gets distributed on blotters, in liquids, as crystals, etc. is usually always the tartrate (or at least a similar protective salt form, like e.g. as maleate).

Also the new RC derivatives (AL-LAD, ETH-LAD, etc) are distributed in tartrate form.

BTW:
Even if you had the freebase, why should the tartrate fall out in MeOH?
The tartrate is still quite soluble in MeOH.
I claim not that this is the truth. As this is just what got manifested into my mind at the current position in time on this physical plane. So please feel not offended by anything I say.

Unless this was attempted under dim red lighting - or in complete darkness - all the LSD has been destroyed already.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

This can be done in dry methanol (4 ml per gram of product) to which D-tartaric acid is added (232 mg per gram of LSD base). Not sure if it's the "best" way but its fairly straightforward provided you have the necessary lab equipment and skills.

You can easily find this information in classic works of Otto Snow ("LSD" ), Uncle Fester ("Practical LSD Manufacture" ) or A. Schulgin ("TiHKAL" - available online via Erowid).

Interesting! In my notes it said the tartrate is quite soluble in MeOH. Probably an error.

It's certainly partially soluble in MeOH as it crystallizes from it as needle crystals instead of quickly crashing out of it. Temperature and concentration seem to play a big role here.
