Hello everyone. I was just wondering if anyone could do me a big favor and stcik like 5-10 mg of freebase dmt from mimos hostilis in an oven heated to about 320 F. If anyone could accomplish this small task for me and tell me if it evaporated or not, I would be grateful to the moon and back. Thanks.

Why couldn't you do it? I'm not getting defensive in the least but just curious as to why you cant yourself. Experiment?

With my electronic vaporizer (Arizer Extreme Q), I start to get some DMT vapor at a temperature reading of 170-180 C. That reading is maybe too high by 10 C, since the herb chamber is a few cm from the heating element/thermometer. The BP is probably around 160 C, if I had to guess. Note that 160 C = 320 F.
If you're trying to set a vaporizer, I would set it at 200 C or slightly higher, in order to get the thickest vapor. I only notice a burned taste when I go above 215 C.

I cannot test this myself as I currently do not possess any freebase dmt from mhrb, but the reason this is important to me is because if the bp really is that low it could easily be used to separate dmt from other tryptamines and b-carbs, since (I believe this is correct but correct me if I'm not) they tend to have a much higher bp. 5-meo and bufotenin certainly do anyway, that I am quite sure of.

What's the differance between MHRB to ACRB freebase ??

catwinds i meant for you to post a thread about your hypothesized methodology for separating dmt from 5-meo >_> not ask people to bake dmt My wind instrument is the bong CHANGA IN THE BONGA! 樹

Hahahaha sorry Parsh, simply too tempting. But I think I'm good to go. I've already made mysekf a setup of tupeerware, ballons and a pen case for the boiling and resolidifiying I'll try to post some pics, because it looks rather ghetto hahaha.

hey catwinds i love your enthusiasm, and I'm sure many of us would be interested to see an extraction of PURE dmt.
However, why?
Is there a specific reason you're trying to isolate it? As we talked about, it's probably a process not very suited to the kitchen chemist. Especially because you can't even know you've done it without some form of testing like column chromatography.
If you're doing it just because you can, that's awesome!
But if you're doing it because you think you'd prefer a trip of only DMT and nothing else, the payoff doesn't seem worth the work.
Then again, only few have ever tried pure dmt. Although, reading Strassman's book, it doesn't sound too incredibly different than the psychoactive alkaloid profiles we pull here with the teks already available.
I don't mean to discourage you, I'm just trying to get on your same page! Help me understand?
Thanks!

I've tried this with a sublimator under reduced pressure, as it is thought that dmt dissociates at atmospheric pressure (not sure how accurate that is). the experiment was inconclusive. there are various reported boiling points, all under reduced pressure. it would be easier and more efficient to do a triple re-x or solvent partition extraction. I indeed just want to try this for experimental purposes but heck, if it works well, I don't see why I wouldn't use this process regularly, since it is really not that complicated and it is very cheap (aside from the hot plate, but you only need to buy that once.
