Re-using old MHRB Options

So from my previous extractions I have saved all the MHRB I used because I believe there is definitely some DMT still in there. I was wondering, do I just add water to make it a less dry consistency and then add the naptha to pull some more DMT? or do I need to do the whole process of adding vinegar and pickling lime over again before adding naptha and pulling? I've had a problem getting the right consistency so that the naptha just doesn't absorb into the MHRB mixture

Hey,

I haven't done this with MHRB yet but I've done it with Caapi before with success. The left over vine I stored in an air tight tupperware container and froze it. When I was ready to brew again I popped it into the pot, poured water over it and rebrewed until it was spent.

It worked for Caapi so I would assume that process would work for MHRB. I will be doing this with MHRB in a few weeks I'm sure. Hope it helps.

You mean you have spent bark you have already acid cooked a few times right?

Yea you might be able to get some out of it. I usually just add water and basify the bark, leave it sit for a day or two and do a test pull to see what I get.

I'm pretty sure an STB extract will get you the most of what might be left as it breaks down the bark more.

Maybe you could try a different solvent this time (i.e. xylene) that would pull a broader spectrum of active alkaloids (i.e. DMT N-Oxide). This won't give you nice crystals, but it will be active material that you can make enhanced leaf with. You've probably got most of the N,N-DMT if you've extracted from the same material already.

I'll second the recommendation for a high-pH STB extraction with NaOH which will help break down the bark and release any trapped alkaloids, definitely let it sit for a day or two. 100g/L or more salt might help as well to push any remaining DMT into the non-polar solvent.
