Alright, so I know that adding non-iodized salt definitively increases yields when working with Acacia, but I'm wondering what the best way to add the salt is when your doing an acid boil extraction path. I can see three possible routes, I have no idea which one would be best:
1. mix in the salt with the acidic solution before adding the bark. The advantage of this method being you can dissolve a ridiculous amount of salt into each boil, you could dissolve 500g or more salt into each boil if you wanted to.
2. Once you're done with the acid boil and you've reduced your solution to 1500mL (or whatever your going for), you can just add the salt straight into the solution. With this method, I'm thinking there's probably a much lower limit as to how much salt you can dissolve.
3. Instead of just adding the salt straight to the solution, you could also dissolve the salt into water separately, then combine the solutions. From my experience, you cannot dissolve more than 40-50g of salt into 100ml of water.
I'm also really unsure of the quantity of salt needed. For Cyb's Hybrid ATB Salt Tek it says add 30-40g of salt per 50g of bark. If I was doing an acid boil with 500g of bark, that would mean 300-400g of salt, which I don't think you could dissolve into the 1500mL of solution you're left with after the boils. So I'm thinking the best way to do it would be option #1, but most teks say add the salt right before you add the Sodium Hydroxide, or at the same time. I'm not a chemist so I really don't know how the timing plays in.
Which method makes the most sense to you? Also what quantity of salt has worked for you?

hey there... i am thinking about the same thing.. When adding salt to a larger a/b-extraction?? does noone here has an answer??

do not mix salt in before adding the bark, it will make the DMT harder to move in the the aqueous solution. It comes after the reducing stage and you can use as much as is needed before no more dissolves (same with lye).
