Hey there Nexus, been looking around for a while now and finally created my account Big grin

So here's the deal, I've smoked a handful of times before, but this time i'm going to try smoking it alone in my bedroom before i go to bed and have the windows open.

Here's the problem, i don't want my room mate to know i have been smoking DMT yet, i will tell her pretty soon, she's understanding and will possibly want to try it, but for now i'd like to keep it a secret.

She is usually sleeping in a room across the hallway, is it safe to smoke in my room with the door shut and windows open? I take it i will drop my machine as i often take the third toke, but are the fumes strong? will they stick around for long? am i likely to make enough noise to wake her up? I've never actually been told how i act as everyone is tripping at the same time when i have smoked before.

Thanks Nexus Thumbs up

DMT is a very distinctive and penetrating smell, I have found, and it does tend to linger. If your room mate isn't familiar with the smell, she might think the electrical wiring is burning or something. If I were you, I would clear the plan with her in advance - having to keep things "secret" might hold you back from fully engaging in the trance, and being in a mindstate of hiding something might not be conducive to the best experience either.

Chances are, you won't move around during the trip, but I've seen/experienced making strange noises before, so silence is not guaranteed.

Clear it with your roommate prior to. You shouldn't have to worry whether someone 'will find out' if your smoking dmt. You shouldn't have to worry about that sort of thing when going into the experience. Clear the table with all housed residents prior, then proceed.

Otherwise Thumbs down

All good advise ^

Since you already plan on telling her in the future, then i would just tell her now

All that side, the smell isn't that bad if you open a window, light some incense, put a towel under the door, don't burn the dmt, and hold it in the lungs for a long time

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

yeah I would tell her whats going on and respectfully ask if she could not enter your room or be really loud while your engaging in the experience.. some of my most frightening experiences have arisen from someone talking or making noise unknowing of the effect it could have on my headspace. The other good thing about telling her, is the transperancy aspect after your experience- when you emerge, your emotions will likely be running strong and it may help a lot just to have someone else to vent to - I find this quite therapeutic after a journey. Obviously your trip is for you and you dont have to disclose its content with anyone, but sometimes is nice to vent how you feel and just let off a bit of hyperspatial steam

Alright, thanks for all the advice! I decided not to smoke it last night, and this morning i sat down and told her over breakfast and what it's all about.

She loved the sound of it and actually wants to try some next time i make an extraction! Laughing

Thanks for the help Nexus, keep exploring!

Good move. You don't want to enter hyperspace with that kind of burden of uncertainty. It would definitely be on your mind, at least enough to distract you from full immersion.

Yes, what they said, also, I couldnr imagine having someone walk in while in the midst of a breakthru.
I thought about the same thing when I first tried the molecule, and I'm really glad I told my roomie. One of my first exps got a little noisy as my kundalini burned thru knots that had built up over years of bad living, and she was freaked out, but woulda BEEN freaked if she didnt know I was tripping!

I also like to remind people of this important part in our attitude page:
No discussion about taking entheogens in an unsafe or irresponsible setting

Attitude wrote:
Taking entheogens in a place where it is clearly not safe, either physically and/or legally, is not supported by the DMT-Nexus. For this we do not condone discussion of taking entheogens in (semi) public places or where the location is outright dangerous for the person taking the entheogen like on the ledge of a cliff or the top of a building.

So I am glad that you discussed this with your roommate first.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

Good that this has been resolved, but for anyone else reading in a similar situation

DMT made me scream once. Like an angry loud scream. Profanity and everything. So err...

Best to watch out for these kinds of things.
