The title kind of says it....i know there is pages about different foods and herbs yada yada, but i was wondering what everyone personal take on this is?

Whats everyones favorite herb/tea/food combo they found effective for leaving the body and which would one avoid?
I have been getting more and more into meditation, being outside, and getting more in touch with everything and everyone, and Astral Travel just seems like the most exciting thing over everything ive read about.

I have gotten to states where theres vibrations and a slight paralysis but thats it.
It would be pretty awesome to see this world.

Ah, a subject after my own heart . . . I have long been interested in astral projection and lucid dreaming. I have attained two lucid dreams (where I control the events) and two projections. The first projection was consciously done in the mind awake/body asleep state, and the second was done in the middle of a dream. Both were brief and exciting, much more so than any DMT trip since no outside assistance was used other than pure intention. On one other occasion I attained the pre-OBE vibratory state but was unable to wrench myself from my body. (my first projection was on the night of February 20 of this year)

I didn't take any tea or pill to attain such states, just practicing techniques and research. Though I do eat relatively healthy and exercise. I'm currently reading Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce. I've also recently been taking an herbal pill blend called Lucid Dreams, but it hasn't really helped. I've recently purchased a dream herb called Calea Zacatechichi in pill form, but I just got it in the mail today and haven't tried it yet. Tonight is Pharma Saturday (my own personal Resurrection) so I won't get to try it til tomorrow . . . or maybe I'll take it on the tail end of tonight's voyage . . .

Many people, including myself, have had pretty consistent results getting to the pre-OBE/lucid dream state (mind-awake, body asleep) with an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor such as Huperzine A or a Galantamine/choline combo.

For best results, take it after you've gotten 4-5 hours of sleep so that you're closer to the REM sleep stages.

Use of other induction methods such as meditation and self-hypnosis greatly increase your odds of successful OBE/astral travel and lucid dreaming.Thumbs up

probly gunna have to learn the same way all of us did..with practice..or not I guess. I always just did it naturally but I did practice alot as a teenager to get consistant at it and stuff.

Dont worry about lables..the astral and lucid realms are the same IMO..maybe different levels or something but you get there the same way. If you can go lucid you can go astral.

Learn to induce lucid dreams by mastering the WILD technique early in the morning. This is the key.

..and trust me, it is worth the practice.
Long live the unwoke.

I don't generally leave my body without something stronger... that said, mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), sinicuichi or Calea zacatechichi might be herbs you would vibe with. Also micro doses of henbane - eg smoking just a pinch of leaf - you want to be careful not to overdo it with that one!

@112233 ive been reading that same book. Great stuff, definitely alot of concepts to wrap my head around, been working with tactile imaging as i said above. did you find it helpful at all?

@Spartan2
how long would you take the huperzine A and how much? cause i actually have some on hand..

So i guess i could check out erowid for info on that stuff.
Did you find these herbs to work the same night or did it take a couple tries?

Im thinkin on ordering Calea z., seen alot of people talk about that

I practice more of the body relaxation and particularly the Rope Technique since that is what I used for my first OBE. And Huperzine A is an ingredient in the Lucid Dream pills I take (that's the name of the pills)--I got 'em on Amazon for like 22 bucks, it's also got other stuff in it. I should heed Spartan's advice and take it deeper into sleep as I take it right before bed . . . And I've recently added binaural beats before bed as well.

All right . . . Syrian Rue tea is cooling, now to smudge and prepare . . .

Yes, indeed. Sipping on 8 grams of rue currently . . . then it's 250 mlgs of DMT down the hatch. This dose was a bit too much for me last time, but I think tonight feels like a "push it to the limit" kind of night . . . I guess time will tell. But that's the beauty of taking too much pharma: too much, you purge and are fine, as opposed to taking too much LSD and you can only grin and bear it . . .

Well, I don't have any experience with huperzine A, I have only used Galantamine+choline, but I've read in dream forums that the common dosage for huperzine A for lucid dreaming/OBE's is 100-400 mcgs (that's MICRO grams).

Also, it may be wise to take a choline supplement or a food source high in choline such as eggs with the Huperzine so your brain has plenty of choline available.

As far as how long to take it, I would say only when you are attempting to OBE/astral travel or lucid dream. I have no idea what the long term effects of dosing acetylcholinesterase inhibitors on a daily basis would be so I would just use it occasionally for an extra boost, and you will develop tolerance/desensitization. Besides, you don't want it to turn into a crutch.

Once you have the basics down, you can use supplements to take your OBE's/lucid dreams to "higher" levels. Options include Galantamine, choline, nicotine, mucuna pruriens, yohimbine, 5-htp, melatonin, harmalas, and the classic "dream herbs" already mentioned.

Yeah, if you take it before bedtime, these supplements may be too stimulating and may also be wasteful as you want them to take effect right as you hit the REM sleep stages for best results.

Eggs and milk have a good bit of choline, supplements can be bought at a nutrition store though.

i think the answer to this might be obvious, but would choline-containing foods be more effective or would supplements?

Fruit fasting is a good way to work up to a total fast. At least it worked well for me. Just eat nothing but fruit all day. As much as you want. Then you can work your way down. I found this a good way to reduce my attachment to my regular diet without much suffering and realize that I CAN survive fasting.

I'm no expert on the matter though. Really a beginner to be honest. I have a good spiritual friend who eats nothing but fruit and is also does fasting retreats and stuff. He's told me about a couple pretty far out full on psychedelic experiences he's had doing extended fasts.

Very little of the choline you put in your body passes the blood brain barrier so supplements will increase how much makes it to your brain. Though I don't notice an increase in dreams from it.

I have always had lucid dreams naturally and to me it is a bit of a struggle honestly. I smoke marijuana because it helps me avoid going lucid in my dreams.

When I was young I would wake myself up screaming because I would go completely lucid in my sleep nightly.

Even with MJ I still go lucid, I see things that come to pass in the waking world at times. It keeps me from being lucid nightly however and allows me to rest through the night without waking.
